Why Boat Upholstery Matters in Florida
Apogee Upholstery restores and custom-builds boat interiors for owners across Venice, Nokomis, Osprey, Englewood, North Port, Port Charlotte, Rotonda West, Boca Grande, Punta Gorda and Sarasota. Center consoles, pontoons, deck boats, bay boats, cabin cruisers and personal watercraft all come through the same shop door on E Venice Ave.
Every seat is patterned from your boat, rebuilt with closed-cell marine foam and sewn in marine-grade vinyl with UV-resistant thread. The result is seating that looks factory-new, sits firmer than it did the day you bought the boat, and holds up to Gulf Coast sun, salt spray and summer humidity.
UV & weather resistance
Marine vinyl with UV inhibitors and mildew-resistant backing that does not chalk, crack or fade after one season of Florida sun.
Durability & longevity
Closed-cell foam, bonded or PTFE thread and stainless hardware chosen because they survive salt, heat and daily use.
Custom fit & style
Two-tone combinations, diamond stitching, contrast piping and embroidery tailored to your hull color and personal taste.
Easy maintenance
Stain-resistant, wipe-clean surfaces that handle sunscreen, bait and spilled drinks without staining.

Materials We Use
- Marine-grade vinyl
- UV-stabilized, mildew-resistant vinyl with a cold-crack rating, in matte, textured and perforated finishes.
- Closed-cell marine foam
- Does not absorb water, keeps its density and prevents the mold pockets that form under old open-cell foam.
- UV-resistant thread
- Bonded polyester or PTFE thread so the seam, not the vinyl, is never the first thing to fail.
- Stainless hardware
- Snaps, staples and fasteners that do not rust-streak your gelcoat.

- 1
Consultation & free quote
Call, send photos through the contact page or bring the boat to the shop. You get a clear quote for materials and labor before any work starts.

Foam, vinyl and thread selection
You choose colors and stitch style; we specify the foam density and backing that suits how the boat is used.
- 4
Sewing & assembly
Seams are sewn with UV-rated thread, corners are boxed and welted, and every cover is test-fitted before it leaves the bench.

Boat Upholstery FAQ
How much does boat upholstery cost?
It depends on the number of seats, the foam condition and the vinyl you choose. A single helm seat is a small job; a full pontoon or deck boat interior is a multi-week project. We give free, itemized quotes after seeing the boat or clear photos.
How long does boat seat reupholstery take?
Individual seats and cushions usually take a few days once materials are in. Full interiors typically take one to two weeks depending on the size of the boat and our schedule.
Can you just replace the vinyl and keep my foam?
We can, but on Florida boats the foam is usually degraded even when the vinyl looks acceptable. Re-covering compressed foam gives a lumpy result and traps moisture. We recommend new closed-cell foam on most jobs and will tell you honestly if yours is still good.
Do you match factory colors and patterns?
Yes. We keep a wide range of marine vinyl colors and textures and can match or complement the original look, or build a new two-tone or diamond-stitched design.
Do you work on pontoon boats?
Pontoons are one of our most common projects. We rebuild lounges, captain's chairs, bar seating and cushions, and can build a matching custom pontoon cover.
